Job Summary:
The Lead Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately managing both non-exempt and exempt payroll for the Target US Team while ensuring strict compliance with all applicable federal and state payroll regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute and process payroll runs with 100% accuracy and timeliness, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
  • Process garnishment orders and ensure accurate and timely deduction in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Perform calendar-based activities and maintain effective communication with agencies, courts, and vendors to ensure smooth garnishment processing and compliance.
  • Perform reconciliations for accounts payable and withholding balances for garnishments accounts, ensuring accuracy and prompt resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all garnishment-related activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary garnishment data and reports.
  • Perform detailed audits on payroll reports, promptly identifying and resolving errors before paycheck issuance.
  • Monitor and respond to all payroll-related requests within a service level agreement (SLA).
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of US payroll policies, federal and state labor laws, and regulatory compliance, applying them consistently in daily operations.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and the HQ team to maintain and update payroll process documentation.
  • Support special projects, including year-end payroll activities and system downtimes, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to workload variations.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the team to build credibility and ensure seamless payroll operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on payroll experience and preferred in Garnishments with thorough knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail, professional communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to analyze payroll data to support business decisions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required during critical periods.
