Role Overview:
As a Senior Analyst – Pricing Operations in the Target Plus team, you will be responsible for executing and optimizing pricing strategies across a portfolio of third-party categories to enable Target Plus to maintain a competitive price position and deliver strong guest value perception.
You will work closely with internal teams- Category management, merchant partners, Business Units, Legal etc. to drive meaningful impact in a growing business area, with a direct line of sight to how strategic pricing actions influence marketplace growth, partner success, and guest satisfaction.
This role requires a strong analytical mindset, a deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders through data and insights.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
Marketplace Pricing Execution
- Monitor and respond to changes in the competitive landscape to maintain a strong price position, Analyze competitive pricing data to identify price index gaps across categories and brands.
- Ensure top selling items and other key items are optimally and competitively priced at all times
- Maintain a dynamic Pricing Playbook for each category, incorporating seasonal strategies and data-driven recommendations.
- Support daily/weekly pricing routines, including monitoring, flagging variances, and suggesting interventions.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure data accuracy and alignment with pricing policies.
Competitive Intelligence & Insights
- Analyze third-party pricing trends, seller behavior, and market shifts to identify risks and opportunities.
- Deliver actionable insights to improve price perception, conversion, and gross margin performance.
- Summarize strategic pricing changes by key marketplace competitors and share with internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and pricing scorecards to track price competitiveness, promotional impact, and marketplace trends.
- Use data storytelling to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Conduct deep dives into specific categories, vendors, or pricing events to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Target Plus internal teams to align on pricing actions.
- Influence pricing outcomes by building strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Support pricing-related initiatives that enhance marketplace capabilities and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 4–6 years of experience in analytics, pricing, retail, merchandising, or consulting (experience in e-commerce or marketplaces preferred).
- MBA (Retail/Operations) OR with a bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Economics, Science, or Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; self-starter with a growth mindset.
- Ability to influence stakeholders using data and insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience managing cross-functional projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams.
- Strategic thinker, comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office & O365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Forms).
- Experience with Domo/Greenfield dashboards and tools.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of marketplace economics.
- Knowledge of microeconomic and pricing concepts.
